Hey there 👋

Happy Monday!

Thank you for sharing your assets with us last week. Below we are sharing Des’s resource; we hope you find it useful.

Now, let’s get into it.

Cheers,

COMMUNITY SHARE

Des spent a lot of time collecting newsletters like Pokémons (gotta catch 'em all), his words, not mine. 🙂

Here is the list he curated; it’s a little scary to see how many I recognize, but it’s cool at the same time.

Thank you, Des, for this resource!

NEWSLETTER MONETIZATION TIP

The money move most newsletter operators ignore

You may already include affiliate links in your newsletter, but do you reach out directly to brands you mention?

If you refer to a tool or service your readers would find useful, check whether the company has an affiliate or partnership program (they might even be open to creating one with you).

Instead of just linking to them and moving on, send a quick email to their marketing team and ask if they have a program you can join.

B2B software companies are especially receptive to this. Many will set up a custom discount code for your audience and pay you 20-30% of a customer's first year of revenue.

The math adds up fast.

If you recommend a $500/year tool and two readers sign up, you've just earned $200-300 from a single mention you were adding anyway.

The key point is to do this organically. It works because you're not forcing a promotion on your readers but monetizing something you already believe in.

Your readers probably trust your recommendations, and brands will pay for that trust.

Have you done this?

Reply and tell me how much you earned doing this. I promise I won't tell anyone!

ACQUISITION NEWS

The Dream Exit

This week, Hubspot acquired the creator-led entrepreneurship media brand Starter Story, bringing the profitable, YouTube-first platform founded by Pat Walls into its HubSpot Media portfolio as part of a broader content-driven growth strategy.

The story many entrepreneurs hope for, myself included 🙂 (it’s worth the read)

Congratulations to all parties involved!

NEWSLETTER SELLING TIP

Break down your income

When a buyer assesses your newsletter, they'll want to understand where your revenue comes from. So, don't make them guess :)

Here are the most common income sources to account for:

  • Paid subscriptions or memberships

  • Sponsorships and ad placements

  • Affiliate commissions

  • Digital products (guides, templates, reports)

  • Upsells or premium tiers

  • One-off content sales or archives

  • Consulting or advisory revenue directly tied to the newsletter brand

  • Platform referral bonuses

  • Partnerships and cross promotions

Once you've listed your sources, go a step further and note which income is recurring and which isn't.

A buyer will feel very differently about $1,500 a month from paid offers versus $1,500 from a one-time sponsorship deal.

Recurring revenue is more predictable, which makes it more valuable to a buyer.

If you're clear and upfront with prospective buyers about how you generate revenue, you'll build trust that makes your newsletter easier to sell.
