Hey there 👋
Happy Monday!
A quick reminder of why you’re receiving this email: you subscribed through LetterTrader or Duuce, or you previously signed up for Newsletter Creator or Acquired the Web, two of our publications that we’ve now combined under one roof to focus entirely on newsletter M&A.
If you run a newsletter, are thinking about starting one, or, even better, want to buy or sell one, you’re exactly where you should be.
And if this isn’t relevant to you, no hard feelings! The unsubscribe link is at the bottom. We never want to crowd your inbox.
Our mission is simple: deliver real value for operators, buyers, and sellers in the newsletter acquisition, growth, and exit space.
On that note, let’s get into it.
Cheers,

NEWSLETTER ACQUISITION TIP
Who's your competition?
When you're evaluating a newsletter to buy, spend a little time reviewing the competition.
Start by finding other newsletters in the same niche and subscribing to a few of them. Assess how many letters there are in the space and how often they publish. You'll also want to check which topics they cover and what they do well—or not.
Is the newsletter you're considering more practical, opinionated, or original? Or, perhaps it serves a specific segment others overlook?
Ask the seller:
Who do you see as your main competitors?
Why do readers choose you over them?
What do you do differently?
The answers will tell you a lot about their positioning.
A crowded niche isn't automatically a dealbreaker, because plenty of newsletters thrive in competitive spaces. What matters is whether this single newsletter has a reason for existing that subscribers clearly value.
If you can identify what makes this newsletter different in its niche, you may have found something worth owning.

BROUGHT TO YOU BY OCEANS
As you are building or investing in newsletters, you’ve probably hit the same point I see again and again: the business is working, but your time is the constraint.
Not because you don’t know what to do, but because you’re still too close to everything. Ops, admin, follow-ups, execution. Necessary, but not where you create the most value.
This is why I recommend Oceans Talent.
They help you bring in high-quality, vetted operators who actually integrate into your workflow and take real ownership, not just task-based VAs you have to manage. The quality bar is high, the process is clean, and the cost structure makes sense if you care about leverage without cutting corners.
If you’re serious about scaling a newsletter (or a portfolio of them) in a way that’s sustainable and calm, this is a smart move.
👉 Book a call with Oceans Talent.
It’s one of the easiest ways I’ve seen to buy back time without lowering standards.

First exit at 19!
This week, MyFitnessPal has acquired Cal AI, the viral AI‑powered calorie‑tracking app built by two high school founders. Cal AI has over 15 million downloads and $30 million in annual revenue, and its team will join MyFitnessPal while the app stays independent. The acquisition strengthens MyFitnessPal’s position in digital nutrition tracking.
Congratulations to all parties involved!
NEWSLETTER SELLING TIP
Selling with zero revenue?
This is a harder sell. You're essentially asking someone to buy potential rather than a proven business.
Consider these approaches:
1. Value based on comparable acquisitions
Look at what similar newsletters in your niche have sold for and adjust your numbers based on your subscriber count and engagement. This is imperfect, but it gives you a ballpark figure.
2. Demonstrate monetization potential
Create a detailed plan showing how a buyer could monetize.
Include: projected sponsorship rates based on industry standards, potential subscription pricing, digital products, or affiliate opportunities.
If you can show "this could easily generate $50k/year with minimal effort," that helps establish a floor.
